There are two ways to look at this scene.

a) The little monsters are tearing up my yard. Now I have to haul some dirt in to fill the hole.

b) It's just puppies being puppies and leaving me less grass to mow.

Due to overcrowding we are being forced into more construction work. We are extending the roof in front of the office to give rain protection and shade for a number of dogs who live in the car park. We have also contracted to build another kennel area to relieve the crowding in our other buildings. The total cost will be about Baht 60,000 (US$1,900). Someone dropped these three cute little male puppies in a bucket beside the road next to our house. Even put collars on them so we could guarantee that they were left by someone. We will, of course, take them in but we do not have the space or the money to care for all the dogs we have. We will get them checked out and find a place for them. Please help, we need it.

A huge thank you to Marianna Berton, from Italy, who came to Thailand as a volunteer to help at the shelter. She has spent most of the last 3 weeks working 10-12 hours a day taking care of the dogs, feeding dogs on the streets and doing whatever else was needed. It was truly a pleasure to have Mary here and we hope she can come back for another visit to see how all the dogs, who she has become very attached to, are doing.

We got 4 new additions to the shelter today. Mummy, Lucky, Olaf and Klara. They were living in a housing estate where dogs aren't really welcome and the people caring for them were all leaving Thailand. There was a concern that they would be run out onto the streets or worse. A big thank you to Emelie Pile for contacting us and donating B10,000 for their care and to Krister who was looking after them and donated B2,000. We are very crowded but have cleaned out a spacious room for them. They will need to be mostly isolated from the other dogs until they complete their vaccinations in about 2 weeks.

We will of course be looking for permanent homes for them all.

Today, Mina was adopted by Ren'e. She is one of the 6 puppies we took in a few weeks ago. She is the third of the litter to be adopted. She already has a new brother. These are the things that make what we do seem worthwhile. We wish Ren'e and Mina much happiness over the coming years. Mina is already smelling the flowers of her new life.
